The Peaks

Client: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Salt Lake City International Airport

Brief Project Description: Gateway Sculpture standing 90 ft tall. Materials consist of weathering steel with elements of glass and powder-coated steel.

DPS’s Role: Managed this project from schematic design through onsite installation.


End of Watch

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: San Jose, CA Police Department

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of brushed polish stainless steel and safety laminated and etched dichroic glass.

DPS’s Role: Managed schematic design phase. Managed the beginning stages of the Design Development Phase. Provided support to the team as needed through the DD and Fabrication Phases. Onsite installation.


Hoberman Arch Refurbishment and Reinstallation

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Salt Lake International Airport

Brief Project Description: Original Artist Chuck Hoberman for the 2002 Olympics. Materials consist of 96 aluminum panels, lumicite backing, powered coated steel arch, steel base, alucabond cladding panels, and color-changing light cannons.

DPS’s Role:  We managed to locate the existing parts, identify damaged and missing parts, and develop and execute a refurbishment and re-installation plan.


Oculus

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Fort Wayne International Airport

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of square and rectangular brushed finish stainless steel tube, waterjet and powder coated steel, safety laminated dichroic round suspended by stainless steel cables.

DPS’s Role: We developed the concept during the Finalist stage of the project through the initial stages of Design Development. I offered support to the team as the project moved through DD and Fabrication Phases and took the project back over upon Fabrication Completion to complete the mockup and onsite installation of the sculpture. 

2022

Santa Rosa Veteran’s Memorial

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Veteran’s Outpatient Clinic in Santa Rosa, CA

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of weathering steel, stainless steel, safety laminated dichroic glass

Jason’s Role: We offered minimal support through the Design Development Phase, managed and participated in the Mockup upon Fabrication Completion, and managed and participated in onsite installation


Red Head

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Private Residence in Sacramento, CA

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of hand-rolled and powder-coated steel tubes with an acrylic sphere internally lit. 

DPS’s role: Manage and assist in the installation of the sculpture after purchase from On Spec Sculpture Collection.


Big Leaf

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Dixie State University in St. George, UT

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of weathering steel

DPS’s role: We took over this project partway through the installation. After some hiccups with the previous PMs, there were a lot of issues to iron out. We worked with engineers to resolve all of the site work issues to support the sculpture, onsite management of site work execution, personally accepted sculpture shipment in Houston, TX to expedite customs issues, coordinated shipping from TX to UT, located storage for sculpture, managed and participated in onsite installation. 

2021

Trax Canyon Refurbishment and Reinstallation

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Salt Lake International Airport

Brief Project Description: Materials Consists of welded and powder-coated steel flat bar

DPS’s Role:  This project was fabricated and installed for the Trax Station located at the original SLC Airport in 2010. When the new airport was opened, this sculpture was removed and almost forgotten. We were engaged in having the damage caused during decommissioning repaired, new powder coating to all elements, and reinstalling the sculpture.

Location: Redwood City Public Parking Garage

Brief Project Descriptions: Materials consist of a stainless steel structure with stainless steel cables to fasten hubcaps to with stainless steel zip ties

DPS’s Role: We were responsible for managing and participating in the mockup of the sculpture upon fabrication completion, as well as supporting site work approval and onsite installation.

Retaining Wall

Client Name: Private

Location: Private Residence in Clearlake Oaks, CA

Brief Project Description:

DPS’s Role: We were engaged to assist a resident in replacing a failing retaining wall located in the Clearlake Oaks Keys. The retaining wall had been washed out due to flooding, and the back deck of the residence was in danger of collapsing. We designed a new retaining wall and executed the plan to replace the retaining wall during the dry season of the area. 


Luminaria - Victims of Gun Violence Memorial

Location: Albuquerque, NM DA’s Office

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of waterjet, welded, and powder-coated steel

DPS’s Role: We were responsible for the installation of sculptures.

2020

World Map

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: The Meeter Greeter room of Salt Lake International Airport

Brief Project Description: Original designer is unknown. Materials consist of 10ft by 10ft by 2in Frit Printed Glass

DPS’s Role: This project was a recreation of the iconic World Map that was originally installed as a terrazzo floor piece in the original SLCDA terminal. We worked with a high-resolution photographer to document the piece, engaged a fabricator to transcribe it onto glass, and finally engaged an installer to install it. We were intimately involved in every step of the project. 


The Falls

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location:

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of stainless steel cables, custom attachment brackets, and safety laminated dichroic glass 

DPS’s Role: We were responsible for taking Gordon’s schematic design and working with fabricators and engineers to develop fabrication and installation methods to safely execute this design. I closely managed the fabrication of each element, developed the complicated details to safely install the sculpture, and worked with installers onsite to ensure successful installation. 


Plates and Benches

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Salt Lake International Airport

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of custom composite, high-density foam, and internal steel structures.

DPS’s Role: We were responsible for working with Gordon through Schematic Design, with fabricators and engineers through Design Development, managing the Fabrication Phase to ensure quality expectations were met, developing an installation plan, testing the plan during a mockup, and leading a team in the onsite installation of the final product.  


The Canyon

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Salt Lake International Airport

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of 3D custom-rolled aluminum tubes clad in fabric

DPS’s Role:  We were responsible for taking the schematic concept that Gordon developed, working with the Airport Engineers to determine load limits of the structure, researching and developing the appropriate materials and fabrication methods to execute the concept, interviewing and identifying the appropriate fabricator, managing fabrication process, and onsite oversight of installation.

Up We Go

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Flower Mound, Texas, for the Lakeside Community Development

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of custom extruded aluminum and safety laminated dichroic glass

DPS’s Role:  We were responsible for developing and managing the fabrication of this sculpture as an on-spec project. We installed this sculpture in a number of locations to display it as a “loaner” to different agencies until the Lakeside Development purchased it to be installed in their community. We led the onsite installation of this sculpture.

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of custom rolled aluminum tubing welded to an aluminum plate frame

Location: Installed at Citiline's Work/Play/Live Community located in Dallas, TX

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of aluminum internal framing, hand-crafted and hard-coated foam cladding, internal color-changing LED lighting, custom cow fabricated by Flatfork Studios

DPS’s Role:  We were intimately involved in all aspects of this project. This project required a lot of R&D to develop materials and fabrication methods to find the best methods to achieve this concept within the budget. We worked closely with GHS’s in-house fabrication team, testing fabrication methods and developing the best process. The Lead Fabricator and I installed this sculpture ourselves on-site.

During the Design Development phase, we sourced the Poppy Jasper to be used during high res photography, which was then transcribed into large-scale printing for the curtain wall

Location: Installed in a building developed by Boston Properties located in San Francisco, CA

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of safety laminated dichroic glass, mechanically attached to walls.

DPS’s Role: This project was in fabrication when we joined the GHS team. We coordinated and assisted in the onsite installation. There were issues with the installation that required us to return and develop new installation methods. We handled R&D to determine the cause of failure, developed proper attachment methods, and worked with the GHS team to remove and replace every panel to ensure a confident and happy client.
