The River Tunnel

Client Name: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Salt Lake City International Airport

Brief Project Description: Materials consist of custom rolled aluminum tube, clad in printed tweave fabric, installed over custom Cooledge lighting panels in the ceiling of the central tunnel that connects the two terminals. Lighting and Audio elements are also integrated though the tunnel as an element of the artwork to create a fully immersive experience.

Current Project Status: Work on the River Tunnel is complete, and we are currently in the wrap-up stage of the project, writing any required supporting documents, performing financial analysis, and reviewing files prior to archiving.

Project Estimated Completion:  The project is scheduled to open to passengers on Oct 22nd, 2024.

Canyon 2.0

Client: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Salt Lake City International Airport

Brief Project Description: This project is a smaller version of the Canyon located in Terminal 1. Materials consist of 3D custom-rolled aluminum tubes clad in fabric, with specialty lighting to change the color of the installation. Canyon 2.0 is located at the North end of the River Tunnel at the entrance of Terminal 2.  

Current Project Status: We are currently in the wrap-up stage of the project. 

Project Estimated Completion: The Canyon 2.0 was installed in May of 2024, and the new terminal was opened to the public in October of 2024.

Carlsbad Veteran Memorial

Client: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: City of Carlsbad

Brief Project Description: GHS has been chosen to design, fabricate, and install a Veteran’s Memorial for the City of Carlsbad

Current Project Status: This project is currently in the contract negotiation phase.

Project Estimated Completion: October 2025

Whimsy Walls

Client: Gordon Huether Studio

Location: Salt Lake City International Airport

Brief Project Description: GHS consulted with SLCDA and the Salt Lake City Arts Commission to choose multiple digital artworks to be transposed into wall coverings by various artists to be installed in every airport restroom.  

Current Project Status: These Whimsy Walls have been installed in all of the completed phases of the airport. There is one more phase planned to install Whimsy Walls in 6 more restrooms.
